2021 Ford EcoSport

The entry-level EcoSport S comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, and just a step up to the SE adds a power moonroof, privacy glass, body-color door handles and exterior trim, roof rails, and fog lights. This midlevel trim also adds LED running lights, and if you add the SE Appearance Package, it comes with 17-inch wheels. Another bump up to the SES gets you black 17-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and heated exterior side mirrors, while the top-level Titanium model has 17-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim elements, and it comes standard with the heated side door mirrors.

The base engine for the front-wheel-drive EcoSport is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder gas engine that puts out 123 horsepower. All-wheel drive is optional for some trims and comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine that generates 166 horsepower. Both engines work with Ford's six-speed automatic transmission.

The EcoSport's base engine has plenty of power for getting around town, and if you opt for all-wheel drive and the 2.0-liter engine, you'll notice swifter acceleration from a stop and it's easier to get up to cruising speed. Driver's will appreciate the responsive steering system that makes the EcoSport easy to maneuver, and its small size means it will easily slip into small parking spaces.

There's room for five in the EcoSport, and this small vehicle has a surprisingly spacious cargo area with over 20 cubic feet of storage space behind the rear seats and 50 cubic feet with the back row folded down. The base trim comes with air conditioning, power door locks, and cruise control, while a step up to the SE adds automatic climate control and heated front seats. The top-level Titanium has leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel.

Technology features in the EcoSport start with a six-speaker stereo, two USB charging ports, Ford's SYNC system, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. The SE has an 8-inch touch screen, satellite radio, navigation, and it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Adding the Convenience Package to the SE gets you a 110-volt power outlet and the SYNC 3 infotainment system, and the Titanium has a nine-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo.

Ten air bags come in the EcoSport, including two front air bags and knee air bags for the driver and front-seat passenger. The SE and above add a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and for 2021, Ford added the SOS Post-Crash Alert System. This system turns on the hazard lights, unlocks the doors, and sounds the horn after an accident to help emergency responders find you and the vehicle.
