Outdoor Activities Near Cincinnati, OH - Beechmont Ford

Cincinnati, OH is one of the state’s best cities to have some outside fun. There are some incredible outdoor activities right in the city limits where you can see a world-class zoo, hike, or get in a few rounds of golf. Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden

Visit the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden at 3400 Vine St to experience one of the oldest zoos in the country. This zoo is massive, with a huge collection of animals from all over the world, including some endangered creatures you might not be able to see anywhere else.

There’s plenty of signage, benches to relax on, and ample parking right near the zoo itself. Don’t miss the hippo exhibit, where you can visit Fritz, a recently-born hippo who loves playing in his enclosure with his big sister Fiona.    

Lunken Playfield

Lunken Playfield, at 4740 Playfield Ln, is one of Cincinnati’s best parks, with tennis courts, plenty of space to have a picnic, and a great place to run. There’s also a shaded, large dog park. The five-mile loop is an excellent place to walk or bike, and since it’s so close to the airport, you’ll have the chance to see airplanes landing and taking off while you’re getting your exercise in.

Parkers Woods

Parkers Woods, at Butter Cup Valley, 1558 Stanford Dr, is a lovely natural getaway right in the middle of Cincinnati. You’ll find tons of trails, a paved walkway, beautiful foliage, and access to the nearby Buttercup Valley Preserve. If you’re looking for a great hike but don’t want to leave the city, Parkers Woods is an excellent bet. During the spring and summer months, you’ll also have the chance to see plenty of wildflowers.

California Woods Nature Preserve

See California Woods Nature Preserve at 5400 Kellogg Ave and hike through its beautiful 113 acres. You’ll find tons of local plants, giant trees, and plenty of wildlife, especially fish and turtles, in Lick Run Creek. It’s also an excellent place to go birdwatching.

Legendary Run Golf Course

Legendary Run Golf Course, at 915 E Legendary Run, spans nearly 7,000 yards and is one of the prettiest courses in the city. It’s suitable for everyone, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There’s also an onsite restaurant, instructors available to help you work on your swing, and regular events happening.
